Welcome to Saws and Scraps.
I’m a DoD contractor by day and a builder by night, licensed and insured. Prior to joining the military, I ran a construction/carpentry business for several years in Florida. Building has always been a passion of mine. It all started as a way to help a good friend of mine, Matt, who taught me just about everything I know. Matt taught me the importance of good customer service, taking pride in what you do, and the customer getting exactly what you promised them. Not long after that came the fever. I was able to transform ordinary pieces of wood into extraordinary creations. I couldn’t believe that such magic could be accomplished with my two hands…. and with the help of some tools, of course.
While running my business, I started to establish a relationship with my customers. They were my top priority. Despite having my own ideas and creative input, I ultimately knew that they would not be happy unless the end result was what they wanted. It was this love for pleasing the customer that I found my true calling for building.
In 2010, I enlisted in the military as a way to serve my country and better myself. I left my business behind, but my desire to build remained strong. Since joining the military, I have had the opportunity to build all over the world. I’ve learned so much about building techniques and safety requirements just through my travels. I have also met a lot of great people along the way.
One thing the military has taught me is that selfless service will get you far.
